The Penzance/Tuna Bay Property Owner Association was incorporated in 1997 to maintain and upgrade the Penzance Bay water supply and if necessary determine any rationing or restriction of that supply.
Some of the objectives of the association are to assist in the provision of recreational facilities, by arranging sporting, recreational or social activities.
Access to Penzance is gained through Archers Road which is off Tennyson Inlet Road. The turn off is slightly north of Rai Valley. Penzance is located about 1 hour and 15 minutes away from Nelson. The Penzance settlement is small with few permanent residents but mostly composed of baches or New Zealand holiday homes.
There is a twice weekly mail servise, mains power and telephone.
The Penzance Bay beach is of gravel, which is unusual for this area of the Marlborough Sounds and this gives the beach a good reputation for safe and pleasant swimming. The bay contains a boat ramp, a large wharf, and a swimming island. These facilities coupled with ease of access gives the bay a great reputation for boating activities.
